Every business website has a goal of some kind. Whether it be making a purchase, filling out a form, or reading the company history, every business website wants visitors to do something.
But how do you set the goal for your business website?
Treat Your Business Website Just Like Your Business
The easiest way to set your business website goals is to look at your business goals. What spells success for your business? What does a win look like? What does your business need to do to keep the doors open?
Once laying your business goals out, review them one by one and see if it it’s possible to reach these goals using your website.
Obviously goals that need physical contact with a customer are unobtainable, but for the most part you should find most of your business goals can be achieved through your website.
Start With One Goal In Mind
If you’re starting from scratch on your website, it’s best to start with your business’ single most important goal in mind. Design and organize your website around this goal to make sure visitors do the task you need.
Don’t be afraid to use design elements to lead your visitors to your website’s goal. Stylize buttons to lead them through your purchase process. Provide multiple links to reach your contact page. Add your phone number in a large font to the header of every page.
Don’t give your visitors any reason to miss what it is you want them to do.
